Nephrite jade is one of two different mineral species called jade. The other, jadeite which is much rarer may contain a wider variety of hues. Nephrite jade is mainly composed of grays and greens and occasionally yellows, whites and browns. Nephrite also has a number of other synonyms and varieties that often refer to the location it comes from including: BC jade, Canadian jade, Lushan jade, beilstein, kidney stone, lapis nephriticus, nephrit and spinach jade.

Jade is a stone with a long history. Ancient Chinese symbolized it with courage, wisdom, justice and mercy. The soothing green colour of jade makes it a wonderful healing stone, which increases fertility and longevity. It is an emotional balancer that gives the feeling of peace, steadiness and nurturing.

Ametrine, also known as trystine is a variety of quartz. It is a mixture of amethyst and citrine with zones of purple and yellow or orange. The colour difference is due to differing oxidation states of iron within the crystal which is caused by a temperature gradient during its formation.

As a healing stone, many believe it to have the powers of both amethyst and citrine, making it both a good money stone and to aid spiritual enlightenment. It is said to bring inner peace and tranquility.

This angelite from Peru is a form of anhydrate that is blue. (This is fair warning not to put these stones in water and perhaps even to store them with silica gel) The name anhydrite literally translates to without water (Ari Hydra). The name of this soft deep aqua coloured stone originates from the Greek word to deceive since it was often mistaken for other minerals. Apatite is composed of calcium phosphate, which is the same material that makes up human and animal teeth and bones. As a healing stone, It can help to integrate, coordinate, and balance the emotional, intellectual, physical and etheric bodies. Apatite enhances creativity and awakens the finer inner-self. Wearing or carrying Apatite has produced hunger suppression.

Aragonite is a stabilizing stone that centers and grounds physical energies. It eases adaptation to different situations and people.

Atlantisite, also called tasmanite, is a combination of green serpentine and stichtite. Green aventurine is translucent green quartz with chrome mica inclusions. It is often mistaken for jade. The name aventurine derives from the Italian a ventura meaning by chance. Bloodstone, also known as heliotrope is solid green jasper dotted with bright red spots of iron oxide. The extra fine banding found in this agate was created by lava that flowed in waves across the landscape, depositing layer upon layer of silica / quartz rather than coming from mountainous volcanos. The volcanic activity that produced these stones in the Botswana region of Africa dates back nearly 187 million years. Some collectors consider these stones royalty among the agate family.

Carnelian, the red or orange variety of chalcedony AKA agate, contains various iron compounds. As a healing stone, it is a known for motivation and has been called the self-esteem stone. Found in Madagascar, celestite it is composed of strontium sulfate. Chevron prasiolite is a combination of green amethyst and white quartz that is often found in a V shape, or zig-zag motif.

Green amethyst is produced when heat is applied to amethyst containing iron compounds with specific properties. Most amethyst turns yellow, orange or brown when heated, but this type turns green instead. Since amethyst by definition is a purple form of quartz, green amethyst is sometimes called green quartz and could also be referred to as prasiolite. The common practice of heat-treating stone does not compromise the value of the resulting colored natural gemstone.

The healing properties of this gemstone are said to be amplification of energies (positive or negative) and inspiration to be original and unique.

Chiastolite is a variety of andalusite. This reddish-brown-gray stone has a distinctive graphite cross in the center. As a healing stone, it is powerfully protective that can be used to dispel negative thoughts. Mentally it aids problem solving by strengthening analytic capabilities.

The colours of chrysocolla are blue, green and turquoise, it often has inclusions that consist of browns and yellows. CITRINE, a form of quartz, shows a range of translucent colors from sunny yellow to brown. This citrine is heat treated amethyst.

Crazy Lace Agate is a variety of banded chalcedony, a mineral of the quartz family. It is predominantly white, with layers of creamy browns, blacks and grays. Dalmatian stone, also sometimes referred to as dalmatian jasper is a trade name for a peralkaline rock (microgranite, aplite or rhyolite). It is a white feldspar-quartz mineral with black dotted inclusions of arfvedsonite.

Emerald is a green beryl. While pure beryl is colourless, emerald is coloured by chromium and also vanadium. The stone can be transparent to opaque.
